Yantras and Mahayantras are the sole of the vaastu and related studies. They are designed with special attention to the vaastu and these designs are effective in giving positive results to the one who uses
them. During ancient ages these were specifically used in the temples, in front of deities or even at the
entrances of the houses to keep the evil spirits at a distance. Apart from the physical devices there are
trends in different cultures where these designs are drawn in the form of Rangolis and are again helpful
in protecting from the evil spirits or the negative energies.
Let us read more about the Yantras, the significance of the designs and the benefits they offer us.
Yantras basically have symmetric designs which symbolize some sacred figures or various types of
simple geometric shapes, which when combined, form a specific type of Yantras. These represent some
or other form of the basic energies. There are many deigns which combine to form the Yantras and the
most common ones are straight lines, a square, a triangle or even a cross. Since ages it has been
believed that these are the symbolic representation of the mantras which are mentioned in the
mythology and the traditional literature. These Yantras can be painted or even drawn on many types of
the surfaces some of these are gold, silver, birch, crystal, bone, hide or even on Vishnu stone which is
referred to as Shalagrama.
Some tips to follow while you draw the Yantras:
They should be placed on some level every time. And there are some color combinations or singlet
which needs to be followed when they are drawn. These include red, orange, yellow or the combination
of these colors. Sizes on which they are drawn are insignificant and can be chosen as per the
convenience. Basically there are two categories of Yantras and these are Bhu and Meru. Those which are
flat are Bhu. On the other hand, Meru, are of pyramidal in shape. While you worship them, it is
recommended to place them on the pithas or the pedestals.
The procedure which makes them so useful:
Yantras are nothing but the shaped energy or the form of energies. It is believed that every design is
shaped in such a way that releases some sort of energy associated with the specific frequency. Every
different type of Yantra has different type of effects and it released various different forms of the
energies. These energies are immensely powerful and it is believed that they not just cleanse the
ambient surroundings but also have a positive impact on the environment associated with it.
What is the real meaning of the Yantras? The literal meaning of the Yantras is to curb, bind, influence or
control. So basically it is used to have the control over the energies thus help create positivity all around.
These have strong connection with the numerology, astrological events and many religious beliefs are
associated with these.
